About Sahara Boston

Sahara Boston is a London-born, self-taught artist.

She draws inspiration from diverse sources such as nature, ancient art, and architecture, especially from historic cultures across the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Australia; but primarily from within: visions and ideas she feels compelled to bring to life. Nothing is studied or intentionally copied. She likes to think her work could be mistaken for something discovered thousands of years ago, found in a cave somewhere in the desert.

Sahara creates most of her designs on paper using fine pigment liner pens. She also works with acrylics and oils and paints directly onto fabric using fabric and silk inks. She does not use computers in her drawing process.

“My artworks are also about balance, what feels right. It’s subconscious, but I can feel what should go where. If I think, the flow disappears. I go into a ‘zone’, and only then does everything flow with ease. I’m totally at peace. I think most artists work this way. I might consciously think of new ideas for artworks—positioning, colours, etc.—but the actual drawing or painting is a more sensory and spiritual experience.”

Her artworks are then hand screen-printed by Sahara in her London studio using water-based inks. With a deep love of nature, she is a passionate supporter of environmental protection, and all garments and prints are made using ethically and sustainably produced materials.

She sees printing her art on clothing—particularly T-shirts—as simply another kind of canvas: one that is free to move, widely seen, and not limited to being hung on a wall.

Sahara’s artwork is also available as limited-edition screen prints, which she hand screen-prints herself in her London studio.

All garments and prints are shipped in 100% biodegradable packaging. To learn more about how our products are made and where materials are sourced, please visit our Our Ethics page.
